Welcome to Kindergarten! I am so excited to be your child's Kindergarten teacher this year. We are going to have an exciting year full of opportunities to learn and grow together. I will do everything I can to meet the needs of every child in my class and provide a loving environment for them to thrive and grow their potential. My goal for all children is that they love coming to school which will translate into becoming life long learners.
My faith is the centerpiece of my life and truly believe I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I love gardening, particularly flowers, as well as making things for my home. I enjoy finding things that are old and rustic and reinventing them. I live in Blanco, on our family ranch with my husband of 35 years, Russell. We have two daughters, Hannah and Katrina. Hannah and her husband, Trey, have two beautiful little girls, Emma and Tinley. They have recently built a house on our ranch so we see them a lot. Katrina and her husband Dylan have a little boy named Caleb who is almost 2. Dylan is becoming a helicopter pilot in the US Army and they are currently stationed in Ft. Rucker, Alabama. Becoming a grandparent is absolutely amazing...our hearts are incredibly full!! We love ranching and country life. The animals keep us busy...cattle, horses, sheep, a llama, 2 dogs and what farm doesn't have cats! We've recently added chickens, too.
I attended Austin Community College after graduating from Fredericksburg High School, got married, had Hannah and didn't finish. I was a teacher's assistant while my daughters were growing up so I could have the same schedule they did. They were both born with a severe to profound sensori-neural hearing loss (they were deaf, although we never used that term), so they were my first priority. They both received cochlear implants when they were young and are beautiful, amazing young women. I am so incredibly proud of them. It wasn't until Hannah graduated from high school and was leaving for college, that my family encouraged me to go back to school. I graduated from Ashford University in 2010, did my student teaching here at Rooster Springs and was fortunate to begin teaching here in 2013. It has been an incredible journey and I feel extremely blessed to be here.
Some of my favorite things are anything rustic or shabby chic, fresh flowers, Mexican food, steaks (Salt Grass), and I like shopping at Soft Surroundings, Dillards, Target, Hobby Lobby and Kendra Scott. Something you don't know about me is that I collect antique tea pots, snowmen, and love beautiful crosses. I absolutely LOVE Christmas and also like cute (not scary) Halloween decorations. Another thing you should know is that I have Type 2 Diabetes so I can't have anything with sugar. I eat a lot of salads and some fruit but that has to be limited as well. No sugary drinks but I can have unsweetened tea and coffee with artificial sweetener like Stevia or Equal. I lead a sugar free life now which has actually been good for our entire family.
